Interesting, did the replacement they ordered for you have a locking cap like the A4 did?
Also the increased fuel capacity on the A4 tank, the shape of the tank was now a bit bigger on top.
So it looks as though Kawasaki must have been supplying the newer shape tanks with seams showing (A4),
sprayed to the earlier designs now as NOS. Learned something new today

The cap would have been a separate part number.
Re: What's it worth?
Yeah true, these tanks must be rare, basically A4 with Z1, Z1A, or Z1B spray jobs.

Re: What's it worth?
Further to that I just spoke to a bloke who owns Z1 I knew the history of from years ago that had had a replacement tank after an accident, and I know it was the new style tank, he went out to his garage to look and the tank cap has no lock...
He was thoroughly confused about the conversation because he doesn't know me and didn't give a shite about the cap...

He could tell by the tone of my voice I was wearing my anorak and the weather's nice here today...
Re: What's it worth?
I can't understand why Kawasaki would bother making a showing seam tank
without the locking cap as they did on the A4, must have cost a bit in the re-tooling for the A4 locking cap

why would you think that.
Re: What's it worth?
All I'm saying is, I can't see the point in making what was virtually an A4 tank without a locking cap
to replace the NOS Z1 shape tank. Just an opinon.
