Best way to sell a "special"?
I've decided to thin the pack and sell a couple of bikes. I would be very open to ideas and recommendations of where best to advertise and what I should ask as it's a little out of ordinary as a bike.
Bike most likely to get attention here is the 1978 Moto Martin that now looks like a KR1000 Endurance racer. I simply have no idea what it's worth and I'm reluctant to expose it to the idiots that haunt eBay via an auction.
Some of you will have seen the bike at either Donnington recently or SW show a couple of years ago. It also featured in Practical Sportsbikes a couple of years ago. Condition wise it's 9/10. I'd be very happy to have it sat in the lounge as an ornament but need to sell to buy something else more modern.
Spec is 1978 MM frame on a T plate
ZX12R front end, Yamaha FZR singing arm and ZX7R rear wheel. M shock custom made rear shock.
Full KR1000 fairing, seat and belly pan, alloy tank. Painted by Flying Tiger
Engine GPz1100 unitrak bored to 1170cc. Head refurbed by Tim Blakemore. CR33 carbs, JayGui race exhaust. Dyna 2000 ignition. Could really do with dyno time to fine tune although it starts on the button and is fine for road use.
I know what the bike cost me, I know what I spent on it just no idea what to ask that is sensible! Once I get a few sensible suggestions I'll move it to the For Sale section with a price.

Look at big sale sites to get an understanding of the price levels. Apart from looking at different countries on finished listings on ebay I would look at mobile.de and leboncoin.fr. As you probably know when browsing french sites remove "moto" from moto martin as its simply called martin there.

I did think of that. Just park them up in the pit lane with For Sale signs on them. Mind you didn't see to do Rob much good. He's done that every year with that Harris of his and still has it I believe.

Well, money has changed hands and it's on its way tomorrow. Part of me thinks I made a huge mistake because it's such a special bike but the other half says doing the right thing for the same reason. Hope the new owner gets some use and enjoys owning it.

Matched my leathers nicely!
I reckon I need to sell another couple of children before the end of summer. My own Harris could be on the list plus my YZF after Cadwell.

I'll find it hard to resist the YZF, but I suspect it's worth more than I want to spend - is it pink?

Those lovely '90's cocktail colour schemes. You need Fieldscheer acid etched leathers to go with them.
I'm afraid mine's a little bit modded although it does come with all standard parts, spare tank, genuine Yamaha fairings etc, etc. Robw, Al etc will recognise the bike. It's the one they cant keep up with.....

Re: Best way to sell a "special"?
BTW Moto Martin sale has fallen through. When it threw it's chain at Donnington it did some damage to the lower frame rail. I didn't know as it was hidden beneath the belly pan but the buyer was not comfortable. I've agreed to get it sorted and we might then do the deal again. I'm not too disappointed as i really struggled with letting it go and might still change my mind and keep it. Bimota V-due plans now on hold.
