For sale: Z900 A4
Selling my A4.
This is a one owner bike, German (Europa) version.
History:
That bike was ordered on April 2, 1976. Bought/payed on Mai 5, 1976.
First registration was on April 30, 1976 in Cologne/Germany.
Any winter the bike was de-registrated and next spring registrated again. So there was no winter usage.
On November 2, 1983, she was finally de-registrated and kept since then in the garage.
The owner, born in 1949, passed away in 2018. He could not quit and wanted to see her any time.
In November 2018 I bought her from the heiress.
Buyer will get those bike documents as
- purchaase order
- purchase invoice
- bike ducument (Breif) showing 1. owner, registration etc.
- Guarranty card (showing engine- and frame number) and services
- service invoices 800, 3.000, 6.000, 9.000 km service
- German Owners manual (or English, if you prefer)
- other ducuments as TÜV (MOT), insurance and tax documents etc. pp
Bike still has her ducumented, first engine
I have about 50 historic electr. pics from journeys in the 70th to Monaco
Condition
Given the fact, bike stood since 11-1983 and condition, I don´t doubt total mileage of 36 thousand km.
Engine runs very smooth and strong. No rattling what so ever.
When I got the bike she was nearly untouched with all genuine parts, bolts, wahsers etc. as far as I can see.
I had to wake her up carefully.
Upon other the following had been done:
- fork overhaul
- brake overhaul
- new final chain set
- carbs out and cleaned
- wheels overhaul (new cink on spokes, new tyres etc.)
- valves checked, new oil, filters, battery etc.
- new chrome on front and rear fender
- new chrome on genuine "76" exhaust
- and lots of TLC, some bolts, nuts, springs got new zinc re-using all the genuine parts.
Besides the valve cover I did not open the engine.
She fired right up, runs good and smooth and DOES NOT loose oil. gearbox, clutch everything works as it should.
I´d say this is an extremely genuine bike in first factory paint (as well on the frame). There are NO replica parts, so still
genuine seat, speedo/tachometer, exhaust, fenders, switches , mirrors, rims, shocks etc. pp
I did not a better- than- new every nut&bolt restoration, so there is still patina on the bike.
As I did not register her but only did some test drives she is still a one owner bike in her documents
Price:
Asking EURO 16.500
Location:
near Stuttgart, Germany

Re: For sale: Z900 A4
Nice - and looks to have all the original hard to get bits.
Very rare in 2019 to find such an original unmolested example.
Good luck with the sale.

Re: For sale: Z900 A4
Thank you, gentlemen.
No price discussion?
In fact, besides the service parts (brake lines etc.) only the complete exhaust had to be replaced. That was rotten.
I was happy to find a good used "76" set and had it re-chromed.
Bike had a Magura ace bar. PO bought that imediatelly after purchase of the bike (invoice here....) .
But he kept the genuine handlebar and it came with the bike.
Here are "before" pics that I got prior to purchase(I bought her on the phone on that basis). We call that a garage find.

Re: For sale: Z900 A4
Yes, a very cool bike to have all the original pictures with it showing the Ace bars etc. Nice to see it completely original, so many parts are now so hard to find in a condition to be able to refurbish. Good Luck. Regards price since you brought it up, I think it is high but there is no work to do, those that value their time more than they worry about money may well be interested! There are cheaper bikes and some more expensive bikes available today so I think its a good starting price especially if you are in the position to deal and wait for the right offer. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Uli
now that is a stunning bike! Original with a very mild restoration, but original! A very hard to find example.
Are you sure you want to sell it??? You won't find another one in that condition!
Anyway good luck with the sale.

Hi Philippe,
either she or the MK2. I tend to keep the MK2. Opinions?
Actually done aound 300km since that soft-resto, will have to change the oil a second time now.
Agree, will be hard to find something like that with all the history and documentation.

I'd keep the MK2 if it was me.
