Anybody want four plugs of this grade FOC, they have probably done 50 miles max, but have been tied in with my rich running problem, you will need to give them a wee blast of heat/wire brush to get rid of soot, PM me if you want them.

Hi Dave,
Just curious, but are you now using B7ES plugs? I'd be interested to see what results you are getting?
Cheers

Re: NGK B8RES PLUGS
Hi John
Going to start on your old Z1000 tomorrow, front brakes need looking at.
Re the plugs, on advice of others on forum, I have reverted to B8ES, as it could be the combination of resistor plugs AND caps is causing the problem at low rpm.
I am however going to fit new coils and leads today as on removing plugs, it was the outside cylinders only that were sooting up so maybe that coil faulty, the middle cylinders were actually a perfect colour.
Will post results later, all the best

Re: NGK B8RES PLUGS
All red NGK caps have resistors and I never use them, only the black caps are resistor free.

Re: NGK B8RES PLUGS
You can remove the resistors from the Red NGK's.
Use a slotted screwdriver to remove the brass connector from inside the cap (where the spark plug fits).
Careful as it contains a little spring and the Resistor.
I just replace the little resistor with a similar length bit of 3mm diameter rod (or bolt, etc).
Spray a bit of WD40 in for "luck" - Job done!

Better still Mark, just buy the black ones... they look better anyway I reckon

I find this puzzling as I put a new black NGK cap on no 1 cylinder yesterday as a final try to see if it made any difference (it didn't) and it says LB05 F (black) resistor cover on the box, with 5k Ohms written on the cap and is identical to the red one i took off.
I wasn't able to find non resistor NGK ones when I looked.

Re: NGK B8RES PLUGS
Back in the day on my first A4 I always had red NGK's on it as I thought they looked cooler and can't ever remember having any issues with them don't know if they had resisters in them then or not wouldn't have known what a resister was either.

Re: NGK B8RES PLUGS
A bit of progress, today i disconnected the pick up coils connector, and they were very green inside, so after cleaning them with a wee bristle brush, i eventually got a reading on my meter of within the tolerances in manual.
I replaced the two outer cylinders with B7ES plugs as suggested by Ralph, and after a 20 mile run, no misfire, and a decentish brown colour on plugs!!
Wonder if i have solved it?
