1977 KZ1000 A1 - Sold
Due to lack of space Ive decided the A1 has to go: I'll be putting it on eBay and Car & Classic in a week or so but thought I would see if its of interest to anyone on the forum.
Bought her as a running project from a forum member 2 to 3 yrs ago, and slowly tried to get her back to her original splendour, just need a lot of TLC and a sympathetic resto.
It's a very original bike (the Busso exhaust, master cylinder and clock set aside): she runs and rides very well, no smoke, or strange nosies and is in very good original order for a 45 yr old bike. Has original bars, switch gear and lock set with "1 key fits all", and still had the original owners handbook in the tail piece.
Work Done:
New BT46's, Chain & Sprocket, new NOS Top Idler fitted, new Dyna S Ignition, plugs and plug caps, "Wired George" upgrade to coils (making 12v), New Clock Set, UK spec as new UK Grab Rail fitted, Carbs professionally stripped and fettled (painful receipt provided), Bob the Seat recover to seat, respray in Diamond Sky Blue to original colour (paint set was in great condition but very sun faded), I had the original petrol cap re-chromed at same time, new cables, rebuild to front and rear calipers, new brake hoses. Service 150 miles ago with genuine Kwak filters, valve timing and valves clearance / shims done. Ive forgot a few things (NOS bolts, PMC petrol tap come to mind) but have a big pile of recipts.
I've left the chrome work original, rims & hubs, mudguards, ears, bars etc as was trying to keep her as original as could - the chrome is good but looks tired in strong sun.
Bad points - not many:
Steering lock has stopped working - lock mechanism needs freeing up, to some the chrome work could be blinged up, and when starting from cold she sounds a bit fluffy for the first minute, but as soon as warm it ticks over and carburates perfectly throughout the rev range. Oh, and I only have one key, but thats about it.
Ive attached some pics, I guess they flatter a little but not too much - although in the camera does not pick up the green tones in the paint - looks way better in the flesh.
She'll be on eBay for £8250, but to a forum member its £7750 Sorry the price is firm.
PM me if you want to know anything about the bike.
Cheers Tim

Nice one Bill, I look forward to seeing it in the flesh....... or should that be "in the metal".
Re: 1977 KZ1000 A1 - Sold
I will buy the CBX if you ever decide to sell it. Another bike I now regret selling back in the day.
