Agreed. Triumph / BSA triples sounded brilliant. I was at Oulton Park for one round of the first of the Anglo American Match Races, sponsored by Triumph) back in 1971. All of the riders (such as Ray Pickrell, Dave Aldana, Dick Mann, Gene Romero, Percy Tait, Paul Smart, Don Castro, Don Emde, John Cooper etc) rode these triples, all with 3-1 pipes. Jeez, what a noise :D
This is a Rob North triple....

The next year they sold tape cassettes of the 1971 meeting (wish I still had it), but then it icluded Norton, HD (with the amazing Cal Rayborn) etc.

The series later became known as the Transatlantic Match Races.

Must agree, Manxs (plus G50s and 7Rs) sound the dogs b@ll@cks, and that does look nice.

Strange but true  I always liked the sound of my Norton Commando 750 fastback wiv them long reverse cones on ticking over, the dam thing went through more pairs of leather gloves than it did tyres

Me and Baldylocks went there this year. The howl the Rob North triple made going through Eau Rouge was music to the ear.
