I heard the guy talking on the radio yesterday saying they'd found 36.

MkXIVs apparently. He said there was going to be an announcement made from The Imperial War Museum about it today.

HAVE they found them though ?

On the news last night, all the site scan was showing was a large metal presence somewhere below ground....they had not been able to determine if it definately was any sort of plane, let alone Spitfires ....
Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better :)

Let's hope so, there are far too few of our iconic aircraft such as the Spitfire and the Lancaster left, it amazes me how we allowed that to happen.

Post WW2 there were a number of historic ships in Portsmouth harbour that dated back to the Napoleonic era. the Navy towed them out to sea & used them for target practice
All thats left is HMS Trincomalee (1817) in Hartlepool & HMS Gannet in Chatham

What a tressure !!!!! :shock: I just love those planes.... Best ever made

unfortunately the nearest I come one of this planes is what you see at the pictures :cry: every summer there is a show at the strip next to where I live and this old fighters are showing off, but they are cool guys and let me take pictures of my bikes together with them :oops:

My uncle Angus who lived in Norfolk crash landed one back on british soil saw a picture of him sitting on top of it when I was a young chap
