:grr :grr The 2 x holes in the tyre (caused by the "U" tack) can't be repaired safely, so it needs a NEW tyre :grr :grr

One consellation is I can use the holed tyre with a tube on another wheel. Beginning to think this bike is cursed

To be sure, I have NO plans to sell it yet

When it's on the road it's a great bike.... only done 100-odd miles so far and looking forward to getting a few more under me belt.

I bought a pait of wire spoked wheels which need tyres, so I'll fit the holed one with a tube (& patch the hole which can't be seen with tack removed) and it'll be fine

Not according to the expert, as the 2 x holes are very close together, it wouldn't be safe

couldnt you make it one big hole and stick a big bung in it

its good that you get to keep the tyre, nothing much lost in the long run then.

Fitted a replacement sump as the other one had been repaired (badly) at some point and wanted to change the oil & filter (which is housed inside the sump). Also fitted some #140 main jets and shes running real crisp now... even getting around 45mpg :P

A lovely bike, Pigford, especially after you've sorted out all the bodges. Unfortunately not for me as I would have to sit on the pillion to avoid roasting the knees on the cylinders.

I remember 'em first time round. The first time I went to the Island, in '79, the Le Mans was still the required tool for all the continental nutcases. I'll always remember coming off down the mountain and being overtaken at the Creg by a knee-down German on his Le Mans taking the racing line (ie the wrong side of the road). If anything had been coming the other way, the explosion would have been heard in Liverpool.

This is my take on Italian Sex. Very different and hated by a lot who try it. Probably because it hates bimbling around; you have to be accelerating or going fast for it to feel happy. Mine's a 1980. By that time they had already been outclassed by the Japanese UJM's but there is no other motorcycle that sounds, feels or looks like it (in my most humblest opinion). Two finger clutches are for softies.......
