I absolutely love this thread.
Brilliant read and thanks for the photo documentation too.
Your lad's a lucky blighter to have a Dad like you! Great to see he appreciates you - those are true lifeskills you're giving him and will probably stay with him all his life............
errr, actually maybe that's not such a good thing....look at us lot!
Looking forward to the next stage

I know, we have three LR's in the family, the lads S2a, my 14 year old Disco and just before Christmas I bought a Defender 90 as a company car!

Had a great morning with the Lad, took all the parts down from the racking and off the container and sorted them out!
Put everything that we don't need on a pallet and this will go to a mate who will put them to good use, had a good check on what we have and made a few notes then put it back on the racking!
I'd had the rims blasted a few weeks ago, they also primed them, unfortunately the primer had gone two hard to paint and had to be rubbed down and reprimed! 2 hours latter we'd finished, very happy with my lad as he didn't moan once!

lovely job and so nice to hear someone who understands about paint layers. When i say to customers that i have to gloss woodwork no more than 3 days after undercoating otherwise i need to undercoat again they look at me like im having them on, some even ask me why we need undercoat, why not just to gloss coats, i have to stand there explaining about the different properties of paints. sorry, got me on my paint soap box there. as said lovely job on those there wheels

Mick, I didn't know until my mate who painted them told me, he's from the UK and is a very quiet member on here, he knows quite a few of the older club members
He's painted my Walter Wold, RGV and GPz900R great bloke
He'll be painting the Land Rover and the Harris!
Bought this a couple of weeks ago, its a cracker 10 seater as well!

Close mate, 1979, ex RAN!
The last owner bought it with 19,000km on the clock and kept a log book, every time he filled it with petrol he wrote it down, every little job he made a note, last entry was in the late 90's when he passed away it had done 43,000km, it was under his house for years and years until his Son decided to sell it, I bought it and the speed still reads 43,000km!
Its at the local LR specialist at the moment having the brakes sorted out and a tune, we drained the tank, fitted a new battery and plugs and she started nearly fist time!
Here's all the history, the old bloke loved this car!

flippin heck, that is a real gem, 24000km of pampered life and documented. I noticed the chock under the rear wheel, i thought it was just to leave the brakes off while standing

Did a bit more engine painting last weekend, the engine is now ready to be assembled, the diffs are next then the box and transfer cases!
I'm a bit behind, I would have liked to have had a rolling chassis by now, I'll have to stop buying bikes and painting houses!

Well got my act together and started the rebuilt on the engine, my mate is helping me and I discovered yesterday that he'd got OCD
Every nut, bolt and washer had to be degreased and the run through the wire wheel and then put into individual tubs all day I was at it! We have checked and inspected everything ready for assembly, all mating faces have been levelled.
We think that this will be ready by next weekend!
