ANY CYCLISTS ON HERE???

Guyz,
Not a wind up.
I am taking road cycling up again.
Looking for advice on INSURANCE for road bikes.
Any pointers?

Chap at work has one of these carbon fibre bicycles, and tells me it costs him £50.00 a month to insure it.
Not sure why he insures it monthly, but seems a tad expensive to me.

High insurance costs doesn't surprise me.....some of these bikes are bloody expensive.
We have a specialist bike shop near us called leisure lakes. Ive never been in the place but people have told me some of the bikes in the shop are costing £10, 000 +....
So if you pay 10 grand for a car , you could be paying 50 a month to insure it.....
It must be the same for a pushbike I suppose. ?..you would be insuring it more against theft than anything else I would think .

Got mi e on the house contents, covers theft but not accidents out on the road.

The house contents cover only insures "normal" bikes.
When you get into the specialist stuff they need to be insured "specifically".

Few years back my lad had a knackered Pug 306 - fuel pump turned up full for max power (like you do!) and it smoked same as that Cummins - he also had fun with cyclists

Some home insurers will cover at agreed value but that will be just theft and will increase your premium obviously. You can try
pedalsure.com, or it's also possible to get insurance through British Cycling if you join that.
You don't need to spend £10,000 on a bike any more than you need to spend £1million on a McLaren. Cheaper options are available...

Yes, £500 is about the limit for "normal" push bikes.

For my two bikes I have used marks and Spencer insurance in the past.
