Chris, well spotted. I'd need to check my photos but I think the bike I have in bits had the battery earth lead somewhere else too.

Engine painted
I've never resprayed an engine before, but if the black paint sticks to the engine casings like it did to my finger nails I'll be happy! Blue-tac is an attempt to protect threads and oil ways. Fingers crossed!

Tank prep
I wondered why the "Kawasaki" badge was stuck on, rather than screwed on...
Paint stripper - forget Nitromors, it was useless. This was Synstrip's work. It's like the older Nitromors. Luckily I found one local shop that sold it.
Even Synstrip won't take off layers of (I think) filler, and some resin substance. Scraping off slowly using stanly knife blades.
Down to this point now, at least I can see where the screws are supposed to go!
