Bought this orange 72 TS125J in the late 70s for a girlfriend at the time to ride to work, but when it wouldn't start one winter she stopped riding it and I put it away in one of my dads lock ups.

After many years in various garages and sheds, it hasn't done too well  , but I finally have the spare time to try to restore it.

Should look more like this

The strip down progresses well :)

Despite some initial concerns that many parts would be beyond saving, its actually better than expected. Although the jury is still out on the tank which I need to get stripped back to find out :?? also the seat pan is a bit crispy

Overall, lots of usable original parts once repainted or rechromed :D

After searching around for spares for the TS, I came across another one for sale - I now have 2  :D

Originally thought I'd use it as a donor bike - it has lots of standard parts missing, but does have a running engine, better tank plus 1 or 2 other bits I need.

However, seems a shame to break a complete working bike - maybe I'll try to restore both  :D

Just collected my TS125J tank from the restorers - thought you might be interested in some before and after photos - was worried the tank was beyond saving, but Steve at MTS did a great job - although he did say it was one of the worst he'd ever done

That tank does look the Dogz!

WHEN I was about 14, a friend of our family, eldest son had an "L" reg TS100 and I used to lust after it

Great little bikes and about time you got stuck in lad.

Its been a while since I posted an update - I've been rather busy with work stuff, but have been working on TS at weekends.

Had a real fight with a rusted in fork bolt with a rounded off head
Image

Not the most conventional way of heating a bolt using a camping stove, but necessity etc
Image

anyway, with the help of some big grips and some brut force ....

success :D

Fork stanchions are away being re-hard-chromed in Luton at Philpotts - should have those back in a couple of weeks.

Fork legs have been blasted back to bare metal, but surfaces is not good enough to polish, so going for some sort of dull chrome or nickel plating - anyway a non-bright chrome finish more in keeping with the original look.

Lot of other parts about to go for bright rechroming
