Following on from a recent "W650 project" viewtopic.php?f=12&t=39203&start=15 which after a good inspection I sent on for a tidy profit, although that was not the initial plan, but it was too far gone!

With that profit I decided to "re-invest" rather than let Mrs P get hold of it all......

It was local and running nicely, all 19bhp of it

Not bad and with the deal for selling the W650, I still have £130 left to spend on this one :beer

Spent the last couple of evenings "settling" the little bike into its new home..... new plug, new HT cap, fresh plug & oil, pumped up tyres and general check over.

One reason the bike came cheap was it had a tendency to cut-out at high revs, so I stripped the carb, checked float levels, jets, needle setting, points, timing, etc. Bike starts and idles nicely.

Went out for a longer run today (now insured) and it started cutting out after a mile or so  It recovered if you went careful (40mph) on slight throttle.
Soon as opened throttle started kangarooing - stopped as it stalled and it started up a few seconds later so I got back home slowly.

Off with carb again and also check flow from tank - no shit and fuel cap breathing okay.... has to be fuel starvation?

This time also checked valve clearances and they were both a shade TIGHT  Set them to 0.1mm and 0.2mm (in - ex) and off for another test ride.

Result... sorted :clap Gonna enjoy riding this thing to work in the sunshine.

That motor looks familiar - Same as my 1979 KL250 I think.

It was sunny - briefly...... and yes, the motor is v. similar to KL250, it has bigger valves, but has no kickstart!
