You can get contactless charging now for phones etc. simple to run a couple of cables in the tarmac (not like scalextrix) to generate an inductive force field something or other and charge as you drive. Charge when sitting at youre favourite traffic lights, charge when stuck in youre favourite traffic jam. No need of flying leads or actual charging cables. Sounds like another great opportunity to dig all the roads up again. However it will take more than 20 years to create the power generating infrastructure to run that scheme. It would probably take about another five nuclear generating stations and they are quibbling about just the one as we speak. So ignoring the facts as they are, the only way to make it work would be to burn the petrol and diesel at generating stations to create the electricity required. That was the principal idea behind central generation and flue gas de-sulpherisation (FGD) and other methods were meant to offset the pollution issues. Well that didnt work either. Lets have a wacky idea, punt it out and see what comes back. Errrr, nothing because politicians are a bunch of nutballs who never think anything through the practicalities because they have never lived in a three dimensional world that has a practical aspect to it or one that is judged by a tangible output. Probably just another day to; "bury bad news". Perhaps it could get people talking about something other than how useless our leadership is or the fact that we actually have no governing party or any number of unresolved dramas' on the political spectrum.
I work in the classic car industry and i dont think it has actually been mentioned at work.

Don't understand why they claim electric cars are green, as Al has just said. You fossil fuels to create electricity.
Hydrogen fuel powered cars are the only true eco friendly vehicles out there.

Why not go the whole hog and have methane powered cars. Then we can all have an exclusive diet of beans, shove a hose up our arses and never have to buy fuel for the car again!
Motor biking, motor biking, going down the queens highway like a rasher streaky bacon!
