The link says Page not found.
Are you sure you mean MOT and not TAX ?.
Tax is a rolling 40 year but MOT exempt is only for historic vehicles before Jan 1960.
A search on DVLA does not say anything other than this.

Have a seen a few posts on FB from VJMC members - looked genuine.

Try this link
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/roadworthiness-testing-for-vehicles-of-historic-interest

Summary below.

The outcome from the ‘Roadworthiness testing for vehicles of historic interest’ consultation was released on 14 September 2017.

We have decided that most vehicles over 40 years old (on a rolling basis) will now be exempt from MOT testing.

Those that have been ‘substantially changed’ will still require yearly testing.

This has been discussed, but has not been written into our laws yet.

Yep, its just passed Consultation, so not law yet - although the VJMC are reporting that the government will take it forward to be adopted. Trouble is, a) it could take a long time given how many EU law things they need to sort out in the next 2 years and b) also it could look quite a bit different from whats proposed from Consultation

Seen some old bikes in a truly shocking state that apparently have an MOT. Dread to think what some will be like if they don't have to bother at all....

Bad idea for me.

Government does like to take its time but see this from a few years ago.

I knew I'd find it somewhere! The top document is the outcome of the consultation and sounds like good news!

I for one am not in favour of seeing this happen although the majority of us keep our classic vehicles well maintained, there is the element that will always see it as cheap motoring and will not maintain their vehicles, whist I don't care about them it's very often innocent parties that suffer as a consequence.

I think it's a bad idea, personally I have no problem with my vehicles being inspected to make sure they're safe once a year
