Have some red side panels off either a KL or KLX if needed.

Depends which KLX it is, there's the full enduro bike which is nice, or the rather lardy trail bike which isn't.
Either way, change the oil at 1000 miles maximum if using it for trail riding and check the valve clearances at the same time.

Apart from that they're exactly the same as any other dirt bike, the enduro version handles very nicely btw, the 80s trail bike is awful off road.

I've got the rather lardy 1978 KL250 Trail bike which isn't! Unless your Sammy Miller who tested it in this review http://www.2smoto.com/distu.asp?id=667 from Motorcycle Review Magazine 1978 and thought that it was. But I guess everything was a bit shit in Black and White (Z's being the exception of course) ;-)

I found that it was hellish difficult getting anything OE or aftermarket for mine apart from motor spares as it is basically a Z200. Just not many sold in the first place I guess. Really ought to finish the electrics and get it on the road or sell it.

Never miss a gratuitous opportunity to post a pic of some bikes.

Just realised the lardy trail bike I referred to is actually called a KLR250 and a 90s KLX should be the nice enduro one.

And to be fair to csx355's 78 KL, all 70s trail bikes are challenging off road compared with modern stuff, quite fancy one for trail riding though as modern enduro bikes are too easy to ride on the flat trails of East Anglia (I must miss falling off and rolling around in puddles)

I fancy something with less strokes, and preferably cheap, KE100 is likely, but I'll need to make some room in the garage and maybe finish a project bike before getting another one.
