Don't know if this should be in this section, but I know a few of you have zrx's
Anyway, does anyone know how I can test my actual fuel gauge ? (before I start blowing fuses).
3 wires on the back; Brown, White with Yellow stripe and Black with Yellow stripe.
Cheers freddy

more than likely to be the fuel sender in the tank short the two wires going to the sender to see if the gauge goes to full reading

Don't think that happens. I put a link wire between the 2 = white wire and the black wire and nothing altered on the gauge. I take it blacks the earth and the white carries 4.9 volts. I've checked there are no breaks in any of the 3 wires from the gauge (brown being 12v when ignition live).
Does that mean my gauge is knackered?
Cheers freddy

if you disconnect the fuel level switch & short the two wires coming out of the harness block conector & nothing happens when ignition is turned on the fault will be with the gauge

Just to eliminate breaks in any of the wires, also do this to 100% confirm if the gauge is shot or not:
Remove the gauges from the bike.
Remove the tachometer rear cover to expose the fuel gauge.
Apply 12 volts from a slave battery to the terminals on the rear of the fuel gauge as follows:
Black/Yellow post - To negative
Brown post - To positive
White/Yellow post - To positive
If the gauge now works then you've a fault with the wiring in the harness.

Yes, many of us have a REX, but go to ZRXOC to get the skinny on this ....
