First ride out in ages...

#1 PostAuthor: damien.wrl » Fri Jun 26, 2020 4:21 pm

Bikes been off the road since last September, been lockdown cleaning, new paint , new saddle cover , leaking petcock all sorted and had developed a possible blocked no1 carb , some fuel additive and a quick ride today seems to have unblocked it and running smoothly for now... great to be back out on it...,

That’s a stunner! I wish my engine was as clean as that!

I’ve just fitted a new seat cover which I got from pit replica on eBay after reading good things about them on here. I have to say the quality of the cover was superb and It fitted really well. Is yours from pit replica?

Thats a beautiful A1 - she looks great. :up
What did you use on the engine to get that shine - very nice.

Strange coincidence, but I recently finished my A1 resto and its developed a leaking petcock (brand new PMC unit - got some Kawa genuine seals to retro fit) and a potential blockage / gremlin to carb no.1 :ghostface

Thanks very much ..That is spooky, my petcock was leaking on the tank/tap seal. Spent a while making sure that as I refitted the tap the new washer was properly seated and it has been fine since ...Added some fuel system cleaner to a tank of fuel and left the carbs full for a day and it seems to have cured it .
As for block cleaning I have been using wd40 and fine wire wool, use the handle of an artists paintbrush to get the tricky bits, not quick but strangely rewarding.
Good choice of bike btw.. if I had to chose a Z it would always be an A1, this is my second

Cover from eBay , fitted by a “professional” who got a nice tight even fit but forgot to make it straight ....not to terrible only bad if it pointed out and you look end on .. I looked around a fair bit for the most original looking. ( imitation stitching can vary)

Think the Bob the seat will also fit if you ask him ...
