A friend turned up on this while I was visiting another mate, he did all the work.. including fitting the turbo (from a Peugeot diesel), its got low compression pistons which take it out to 1440cc.

Re: Z1300 Turbo
How does that work with what looks like the standard airbox and carbs?
There was a bloke in Clacton in 1990 who had a turbo'd Z1300, it also had a mono shock and chain drive conversion.

Nice work.
Is that an open exhaust coming out of the turbo at the front?
I bet that's quiet

It has carbs, but it has a plenum chamber that's made to look like the standard airbox. I'm told fitting a turbo to an injected bike is pretty easy, not so for a carbed bike.

Yes I think so, but it didn't sound that loud when it was revved. There's a short vid of the bike here..

That's my understanding as well, and having multiple carbs is supposed to be more difficult than a single carb, Yamaha did it with the XJ650 Turbo and had to seal the carbs.

Re: Z1300 Turbo
Yeah, "blow thru" set up.
Turbo's are often fairly quiet as the exhaust note is broken up by the turbo.

And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
