First ride
Dry for a couple of days so got the new z650 out for a short ride to St Andrews. Goes well but noticed a bit of a mid range flat spot in the higher gears, suspect need to go a clip richer on the needle
Re: First ride
worth cleaning the carbs out and checking the passages/ pilot airways and making sure all carbs are set up the same (airscrew settings/ jet sizes pilot and main)/ float heights/ clip positions and check ignition timing and whether the advance/ retard unit is advancing when it should ( weak springs will make it advance too soon in the rev range and engine will bog down as it accelerates, mimicking a midrange/ low throttle opening flat spot) and valve clearances and carb balance.
Sorry to give a big list brother
Manual will tell you when in the rev range your ignition timing is normal and by which stage in the rev range it should be fully advanced
