Should I buy this KZ900

#1 PostAuthor: yorkiboy » Fri May 18, 2018 10:38 am

Hi folks, back in the day I had a Z900 and loved it. Now I am looking to buy a KZ900 here in the UK. Obviously there's the good the bad and the un-original originals...........This is the bike in question.......http://steelcityclassics.co.uk/classic- ... or-sale-52

I was told the guys on this forum could smell a rat at a 100 miles.........

I am sure you will know it’s an import ........I am no expert, looks the part, flashy ad with little info on the bike itself...... a list of things done on the restoration would be good, what engine/carb work, what non original parts fitted, ie is the paint set original , rims, exhausts, chrome.. all can be replaced with pattern parts which have an impact on the value .....

Looks the part, price seems about right and as above ask questions about it's history (verify mileage?), toolkit, service books, manual; the restoration, what was done - engine/paintwork work etc. Dated rims?

Yes, there will be a few repro or non model specific parts fitted (I believe the front mudguard is off a Ltd), but all in all it seems a good buy. I'm sure others far more knowledgeable will be along to highlight further detail.

Cheers

What about this one, it looks promising and will probably go for a lot less than 10.5K

Hi guys and thanks for input.... I put a holding deposit so they seem to have removed it from their site. I will be checking it out is the sparkly green flesh on the morrow and will report back.

Having checked out this bike I decided to pass.... Looks like it has been hurriedly cleaned up for a quick profit rather than lovingly restored. Guys have not compression checked it and it was running rough........It's also a bit over priced I feel and the new paint on the tank while looking good from a few paces has some issues. Anyway there's always another round the corner

sounds like a lot of zeds for sale now adays ,dealers pushing the prices up ,in reality most top end $$$$ zeds arnt selling ,but you only need 1 mug buyer ,id say hang on and be patient as the right bike will come along & you could always look at importing one from the states
