As Above, i have a combined reg/rec, what are the symptoms if its failing.
Out of nowhere i have a flat spot around 4k , i can ride through it, but it feels like it running out of fuel. I have had the carbs off and they were clean, fuel tap - Pingle - clean and flows as it should, no other work to the bike over the winter except oil and filter change. Scratching my head with this one!!
Any advice appreciated

Re: Reg/Rec Failure Symptoms
If reg/rect working as should, you should get around 14.6 v dc across battery at around 3k revs,if you dont have a meter, start in the dark and see if headlamp goes brighter when you rev up as a quick check..

Re: Reg/Rec Failure Symptoms
When my factory original reg rec failed in the late 80's I fitted an electrexworld unit which has been on since.
The symptom was a boiled dry battery and battery acid where you don't want it!

I had a similar problem - turned out the points were pitted to hell!
Cleaned them up with a bit of emery cloth and off we go.
