Z1 lower engine mounting plate

#1 PostAuthor: MrDavo » Sun Aug 02, 2020 5:19 pm

I have all the rest of the plates, but I am missing the lower triangular engine mounting plate for my Z1A. I think it’s the lower on as the one I have fits the frame downtube, but I could be wrong- measurements to check between centres would help me.

My mate in the bike trade told me that this is what makes building a bike from boxes to be a nightmare, please help me prove him wrong.

Please reply here or pm, thanks

I contacted Z-Power and they only sell engine plates as a set, which would be a waste as I only want one of the four plates. I've been searching the net and may have found one in Ohio, but the post is more than the part, and the delivery date is 3 weeks away. I'm in a hurry to get the engine in, then I can start putting parts on the frame.

I'm assuming that the plate I've got is the larger front one, and I need the smaller lower one, can anyone confirm this, here's what I have got.

Nothing on DK's site, just a front plate, so if you guys can't help I'm in for a 3 week wait, plus VAT etc if Parcelfarce want to be arsey.

Thanks for the link, but a part number search on his website has the part as NLA, the same with CMS.

Im sure if you fitted and tightened the other engine mounts that you have, you will then be able to progress your build without that 1 plate for now.
A block of wood and trolly jack underneath the engine on that engine mount side would give stability till you find a replacement if you have concerns. :up

If you have the dimensions, find a fabricating shop that has a water jet cutter. Inexpensive and perfect. Rick

Hobo, did you get the chance to have a look?

Iid need one to get the measurements to have one made - I could measure the hole spacing on the frame, but the only way to get the vertical measurement is to install the engine and measure the gap.

I think if Hobbo draws a blank the plate in Ohio beckons. It’s not expensive but will take forever.

There is a 'company' in the UK that regularly imports and breaks bikes from the US and advertises engines / frames etc etc etc. for sale on ebay.
I would be surprised if they didnt have a mounting plate but would not be surprised if they didnt bother to advertise them separatly.
Here is one example of one of these companies.

Thanks, I've bought odds and ends from D&K before.

I've sent them a message via eBay, they are bound to have one somewhere, they have a right hand upper plate for sale, it's whether they can be bothered to find it in a mountain of parts. I'm not buying a full set for just one part, it would be cheaper (but not quicker) to buy the refurbished one from the USA.

D’oh!
I abandoned all hope and ordered the one in Ohio, so don’t worry about it, but thanks.
