Z900 wheels pair single or just hub/s??

#1 PostAuthor: BearDog » Mon Jun 21, 2021 10:39 pm

I'm looking for some spoked wheels for my z900a4 project.
It's currently on Lester mags. And I just don't like them.
Is there anything about. Full set. Just rear or even just a rear hubasi was planning on re-laceing them to aluminium rims anyway.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Si,
I to have an a4 project and have these spoked wheels. New chrome rims and spokes from zpower, vapour blasted and new bearings.
They have NOT been trued up!.
My bike lends it self more to lesters if you are interested in some deal if no hubs come up?.
Cheers
Tim

Those are shiny
I'd love to do a deal on my Lester's but firstly although they appear in very good condition. The normally black painted bits are actually painted blue  done in the past for some reason. And the rear is a 16" we heels as that's what was done more often than not in the states.. but I'd like to know what you might want for them.

Sounds like you have a set of wheels from an LTD as they had a 16inch rear :!:
Are you sure they are Lester wheels :?:

Hi Si,
Not sure I would be keen on your lesters to be honest, the 16" rear is the sticking point and not much we can do about that.
However, if you scroll down the "For sale" section there is a rear hub, h2 I think, but I'm 90% sure it's the same, you can get rims and spokes easily.

Yes sure they are Lester wheels they say on them. And I think ltd had disc rear didn't it being later?
My bike is American import and it was quite common for them to chose the 16' rear as an option. I guess it suits there cruiser liking over there? .
To be honest I tempted to get a z650 wheel on the rear I know they have a smaller drum and cush drive but I'm not sure why it wouldn't work otherwise? I don't use the rear brake that hard anyway.. .
Does anyone know if the fit ok? Are the swing arms the same ?

z650 rear wheel has a different spindle size - 17mm , z900 is 20mm.
Swing arms are different too.

I have done just that, had to make up some spacers for rear wheel.
I will be selling the lot when I get my spokes finished.
I've attached a pic, dresda z900 swinger fitted but spacing is the same.

When I say "The lot" that's wheels, rear spindle, spacers, sprocket carrier, rear drum, cush drives, 530 chain and sprockets.
All that's needed to fit to a z900.

Awesome. That opens options up a bit.
Spacers I can make no probs.
I will include 650 wheels in my search then..

Front bolts straight on no probs.
Rear you will need spindle, brake plate assy, sprocket carrier, cush drives and some z650 chain adjusters. Remember also Z650 sprockets, I bought chain seperatly, a longer one and cut it to length, z650 has a shorter swing arm so a set won't fit I think. These are all 530 so readily available.
I have the dimensions for outer spacers written down, I will dig them out for you and send more pics if it helps.
