Z1 wanted

Hi guys, this is no doubt a tall ask but having sold my Z1B l am now looking for a 73 Z1 progect bike. l want a runner that l can use while ammasing parts (and money) for a total restoration. l missed one on Dave Orrits stand at Stafford last October. l am in the Doncaster area. I would be surprised if you could find a Z1 in the UK under 10K even in a very sorry state?

He says in the comment that he wants a runner to use whilst collecting the bits for the resto, he also doesn't mention anything about cost.

neilbarrett, lm looking for a runner with original parts on that l can strip when ready and referb everything, clocks switches chrome paintwork etc but l would like to just run it for a season to check motor ok 5k -8k depending on condition. The one Dave sold at Stafford went for £6500 all original but a 4 into 1 fitted, wish ld have got there sooner !

you'll be lucky to find anything for that money, a z1 thats 90% original, mot'd and on the road will set you back £10k these days no matter how rough it looks

May have set my sights too high with a Z1 l may have to look at a Z1A or maybe another Z1B. l live in hope ! Paul ......................

It took me ages to get my Z1B running right, l changed the carb on number 4 and low n behold it cured it. But by then ld lost interest in it and was offered a decent deal which l took. lve calmed down a bit now and fancy another. Paul .................

A lot of carbs can be damaged by ultrasonic cleaning, overheating and to aggressive; it can cause minor hairline cracks which are near invisible which cause bad running, new carb body cures
