h2 gearbox anyone?

#1 PostAuthor: skibs » Tue Apr 21, 2015 6:35 pm

hi guys,
my 30yr love/hate relationship with this thing is coming close to ending!
just spent loads on new crank, rebore etc.
just covered 120 miles,great,nice 2nd gear wheely,almost flipped.
came down pretty hard, almost headbutted clocks, foot landed on gear lever
which rammed it down to 1st locking rear wheel.
limped home with no 1st gear & 3rd not soundin good

dont do the triple forums but hopin some of you triple lovers on here
may be able to help before i get to tempted to throw it into the atlantic.

not stripped yet but complete gearbox would be ideal
thanks
skibs

Sounds like you have damaged the selector fork, I seriously doubt that you took all the teeth off the gears, the other possibility is that you have snapped the end off the selector drum, start with removing the clutch cover and then clutch, pull the tin cover off the selector drum and look for cracks.

If it is the selector for then they are the same as the H1 Ones, it may not be an expensive repair but it will be labour intensive.

just as i suspected,h2 g/box parts a nightmare to find.
dr skibs will have to carry out a little surgury at the w/end!

h1 g/box option sounds good,i know the output shafts are the same,
not sure what the difference is on input, but lucky enough i have a mates
h1 motor in bits at mo with a f%$&d output shaft & second gear.
so have something to play with if need be.
hopefully only need selector or drum.
many thanks kas rb

maybe a cheap uk h2b up for grabs if i get pissed with it!

The entire H1 gearbox can be substituted, you just need to swap the bearing behind the clutch for the H2 One, the ratios are obviously slightly different but not too noticeable - I don't think it will come to that though
