Z1-R Gas Cap Rubber Gasket 11009-1036 Needed Please

#1 PostAuthor: pertonpc » Wed May 06, 2015 11:29 am

Hi People,

Does anyone have any leads on where I could track down a new sealing rubber for a Z1-R fuel cap please?

part code - 11009-1036

Have tried the usual suspects but it is no longer available.

It is the one from the original 1978 13 litre low profile tank I am after.

Thanks for looking.

Unobtainable.

All model Z1R's use same part.

The pleasure of owning a Z1R.

After 14 months l found one on FleeBaye, so keep a search going.

I will certainly keep looking then.

Would you mind keeping your eye out for one in your neck of the woods ?

Would be grateful of a tip off if you spot one.

Or does anyone else know of another one that will fit ?

I might get some measurements off mine - there must be similar sized gas caps from later models surely.

It does not look too complicated a shape.
If you can obtain the correct material/thickness - might be possible to fabricate it yourself.

..........just a thought

Cheers Kev,

I will come back to you on that offer.

Need to get my best one onto the bike tank - then I can get the one from the spare touring tank off for analysis and possible fabrication.

Thanks

Update from Cradley Kawa -

We tried the Z1000 A2 etc. gasket but too big.

Have drawn them a template with all the dimensions marked on and they will see if there is anything close and let me know.

Will put the dimensions on this thread when I get home.

These are the measurements I am trying to match -

top inner diameter 33.90 mm (touches tank neck)

rear inner diameter 37.5 mm (nearest side to cap)

outer diameter 48.45 mm (this could be a bit + or -)

Has anyone got one off any of their bikes that matches these sizes ??

Thanks a lot.

Checked an old A3MkII cap I have and nowhere near those measurements. Long shot but will ring my local Kawa dealer down here and ask them. They usually are pretty good, if there's one in Aus they'll find it.
Update- made the call and no luck sorry.

Keep an eye on Buyee.jp even better if you know someone in Japan. This one looks like a secondhand cap, hard to decipher.

Just a thought on this, a lot of the old type rubber seems to sucumb to our new nasty ethanol petrol ,make sure whatever you use is ethanol resistant,it even ate away the innards of some fuel lines on my Gs last year depositing bits in the carbs, would be expensive fuel cap seal if gas leached out onto the paint.Thimking about it bet the old fuel cap seals are not Ethanol proof :(
Since i have used additive and Ethanol proof fuel lines though no more probs ....Yet!!!!!
