I had problems with the original fuel tap which is of vacuum type
I found there was still a small weep of fuel from the tank when there should be nothing.
This might sound minor but you can end up with a cylinder full of petrol which the engine will try to compress on start up. - Potentailly a lot of damage.

I tried a refurb kit for the tap but it was still not 100%.

I ended up fitting a pingel adapter to the tank and then obtained the earlier type fuel tap (From John Browse Wrexham) with the more straightforward on-off- reserve arrangement - It has been fine since then.

Cheers
Kev

Yes Kev, that's the problem with my one. Tried a referb kit but that was as much use as a hole in a parachute. May just have to bite the bullet and buy a new one from Z power, but its difficult when you are as tight as I am.

Be wary of replacement fuel taps - There is some discussions on this site where people have bought replacements which have been poor quality.

There was talk of some new ones about to hit the market in 2015/16 - from Z1 enterprises which they had high expectations
Maybe Saisei (supplier and site contributor) can advise the latest.

Pingel seem to be rated highly but they look abit odd (to me!) on a 70's bike.

Hello,if not bothered about originality, old style mini headlamps are straight fit into headlamp rim. And are available without sealed beam. I got fuel tap and engine bars from Z Power. No problems with tap. And bars fitted perfectly :D
