Presumably, the extra 1mm i/d clearance this would give is not as critical as the length needed to distance the sleeves?

Inside diameter isn't as critical as the length as long as the wall thickness isn't so thin as to risk crush distortion when tightened.
2mm wall will be ok.

the inner diameter clearance is just 'grease room'..

Will you need to use Top Hat caps on the outside if replacing the bushes with bearings?

hi zedhead, apologies about the delayed reply :having looked into it, it's not really worth it for me to supply bearings/bushes as I'm sure you know, they're readily available at affordable prices already. I'll instead concentrate on supplying my stock of 22mm tube to members covering most z models from z1-z11. mark

Thanks Mark, I would be interested to know if anyone has successfully made a needle roller conversion and what they used?

Good luck with the spacers, birth of another cottage enterprise.
