Z1R Right Seat Rail

#1 PostAuthor: wheelysteve » Fri Feb 23, 2018 6:10 pm

Long shot I know, but does anyone have a right hand side seat rail for a Z1R in good condition. The part number is 14025-1023-7W and it's finished in the bluish silver colour of the D1.

Mine's got a lug broken off.

Hi Steve

you've got yourself a dificult task! An original painted, undamaged seat rail for a Z1R, Those parts are very difficult to find! I hope there's someone out there who can help you.
Can't you repair yours'? If you have the broken off part, try to glue it together, there are some good glues on the market today. You could eventually use "plasticard" to support it..
Plasticard is used in modelling to recreate parts when scratchbuilding models and it comes in different sizes.
I use "plasticard" and glue to strenghten and repair broken off lugs from side panels and they perform well afterwards.
Good luck

Just a thought that you can get parts repaired professionally.
I used this service a few years ago for some zx9r parts

End results were very good.

Karen at LPM is a really nice Lady and knows her stuff, she keept her dads business running to help us all out after he died

at the low price she charges for the side rails my thought would be keep and mend the OEM rails for show days and on normal days uses her very good pattern ones

I have a batch of ZIR paint work going in some time in March in "Stardust Metallic Silver" with a top painter.

I am sure it would be no problem to have a few other bits done at the same time which would keep the cost down

as it is I have one OEM side panel in my batch along with two of LPM side panels

just noticed you are in Wokingham if you want to see the LPM rails in the flesh let me know i am just 10 miles down the road from you

When I sent my z1r paintset to dream machine 7 years ago, I looked at my seat rails and they did look to have a crack starting so I bought a set from lpm and had them done at the same time as a precaution, they turned out fine and are in reserve as a standby. Just as well I did because dream machine did not get the perfect stardust silver match so I would not have got easy replacements to match.

Thanks for all the replies. I will get a couple of the repro jobs and investigate getting the original repaired.

The front mounting lug has snapped but I don't have the missing bit.
