1977 KZ Parts required - Updated
I'm going to need the following soon, so just putting feelers out there at the moment
3 Cap Limiters
Complete battery box / tray
Full tool kit
Also does anyone know where I can find the original specs for the KZ1000? not the Z1000.
Probably a lot more once I get into it. Let me know if anyone out there has some they are willing to part with or knows someone who does.
Thanks in advance
Guy

Think it would have helped your cause with a friendly introduction post first and maybe a pic or two.

Re: 1977 KZ Parts required
Depends if you want new stuff or original. Most of the stuff on your list is available new as repro from a number of suppliers fairly easily. Original stuff might be harder to get, cost as much and need a lot of work to make it look new. People go down both routes, it really depends what you’re after. As far as repro looms go, and you’d possibly be into a lot of work trying to fix up an old loom, you might not be able to specify whether it’s US or UK. The differences between the Z and KZ were just for the particular market, is there a particular reason you are keen to restore to US Spec?

Hi Guy
welcome to the club!
We all like to see pictures of a new members bike and we allso like to know something about the owner himself, we're curiuos guys.
As mentioned before , a lot of parts are stil available new or repro. Take a look at Z-power, Z-fever or other sites.
I'm convinced that all the parts you need can be found there.
If you need advice, just ask, a lot of guys are really willing to help you, so don't be shy, go for it!

Thanks for your reply, regards old or new kit, I'd like old where I can get it even if I have to refurb however I realise some items are pretty much non existent and I'm even looking to buy other bikes as donors. Where I can't get original parts then yes I am happy to have new even if it is until I find an original. Why KZ and not Z, well, it's a KZ and while I understand here in the UK we all prefer the Z over the KZ, me included, (I used to own one back in the early 80's), the one I am working on right now is a KZ and most of it original so I have no issue just restoring back to the way it started life. It may not be worth as much if I come to sell it but that's another matter.

Thanks for the link, and yes I agree, I didn't mean to be rude, and I will share pictures and details when I get 5, I am new to this forum, but not new to Z's.
Here's an intro.
My first was a brand new Z250 in emerald green back in the early 80s followed by a sliver Z550 A1, don't see many of them anymore, followed by a Z1000 A2. On which I had a major bike accident and put myself in hospital / rehab for 6 months. So I sold the Z1000 to someone to fix up while I was broken and bought another sparkling green bike, a Z650 C (I think). All of this before I even thought about a driving test! However haven’t really had a bike to talk about since until more recently now I have a KZ1000 A1 1977 in red, (pictures to follow). I did have a few other bikes too, such as a Maico 440, Bultaco 370, Hodna super dream 250, (I know shame on me), but all of these were just extras that I rode off road, (the super dream I swapped for a coat in the end shows what I thought of it at the time).
Anyway more to come, and thanks for the approval to join. Hopefully catch some of you out and about sometime.
