1100R 75mm PISTON

#1 PostAuthor: z1000puddin » Mon Oct 22, 2018 9:30 am

Guys,
Long Shot I know, but does anyone out there have a spare 75mm piston 1170cc ( 18mm wrist pin) for my sick 1100r ?
Base gasket has turned to basically mush, & block has dropped, causing a partial seizure.

Sorry can't help, but all of that has been caused by a dodgy base gasket?

What does the cylinder bore look like?

Eastwood racing can supply individual pistons if they are wisecos.

However check the valve cutouts on the replacements.
The recent sets of Wiseco piston valve cutouts are to high on the exhaust side.
Wiseco know about the issue but have not withdrawn the faulty batch.

Many thanks guys,
Eastwoods are closed on a Monday, Suzuki performance also sell single pistons.
I will check the valve cut outs - thanks

Base gasket has dissolved for want of a better word, causing the block to drop, I was luck it didnt cause any more damage as it was around 110mph

Chris Tombleson at Grumpy 1260 may have them in stock.

Not defending Wiseco, as any faulty batch should be recalled, but maybe it's only a problem with high-lift cams?
Plus, would that one piston not be heavier than the others if it had more metal on the crown?
Might that unsettle the overall balance?

Re the Wiseco's It may only be a problem with High lift cams and big valves, but its definitely worth checking its literally a couple of mm higher so the lip can be skimmed and reshaped easily with a dremel.
Its always a good idea to match your piston weights anyway especially if your fitting an odd one.
