Hi Nigel
as promised, pictures and measurements from the exhaust hangers.
The dimensions are in millimeters and are "more or less" correct...
The thickness of the steel plate is 2.25 mm
Both of the hangers have on the upper inside a rectangular cage where an M10 self locking nut with fine thread (1,25) is catched. The nut can slide in order to adjust the exhaust.
The right hand hanger is a mirror view of the left hand one, except that the left one has an extention for the rubber damper acting as a stopper for the main stand.
The cross section of the hangers is U shaped.

The cage on the inside where the M10 locknut is catched, it can slide, on the outside of the hanger the upper hole is not round but more or less oval shaped

I hope you can do something with the pictures...
I made two exhaust hangers for my MK2 out of a steel plate.
The best thing to do is make an example out of cardboard to make sure they fit, then you can flatten the cardboard on the steel plate and draw it over . Remember the hangers aren't straight, they're bent to the inside.
Good luck!
