1975 Z1 shocks

#1 PostAuthor: rick-chuck » Wed Dec 18, 2019 5:47 pm

For my resto- most parts on mine are from Sep. '74, as is the build date, so I would accept a somewhat decent set from April '74 to October '74. Maybe a warranty replacement would put this to early '75? Cheers, Rick the new guy.

hi n welcome rick, the uk euro 74/5 bikes didn't have reflectors on the shocks, i have a spare pair of usa reflector shocks but the date codes have been polished off, so the dates will never be known :Oo. probably easier to get some stateside.? m

"Easy" being relative when working on old bikes, of course. I've been searching here in stateside for some time and have come up empty. So far. I would think the reflectors/ spring housings could be transferred. Most I find here turn out to be old pattern shocks as when I ask the seller what the numbers are, there are none. The search continues...

A sign of the times?. Worthless £ now makes it economic to ship 'back' to the States.

I'm surprised nobody seems to have any.. have you tried oldkawman.com n redline racing? rick brett (rb on the members list) will probably be worth an email. i know mine aren't reproduction because they had faint stamps before polishing (back when numbers didn't mean shit to me ) and Stanley 'flectors.. i hope summit turns up. cheers m.

I've been looking for original shocks for my Z1-A Stone bike for quite a while now.
Finally bought a pair of supposed Z1-A units from ePay last week. Be interesting to see what/if they have date codes when they arrive. :D
They do seem to be in short supply though :??

The pictured shocks are the set I viewed a few days ago. I contacted the seller to check numbers (I sent a picture from the numbers guide, ( http://www.kawtriple.com/mraxl/tips/dat ... ecodes.htm ) but they said there were no numbers. I went back an hour later and they were gone! Seller said they came off a '74. I hope you got some dates...

I took a bit of a chance....made an offer and he took it.
I couldn't see any numbers in the pics, but they weren't all that good.
They do look original with the Stanley reflectors, but I think Doremi used the those as well?
Either way, they'll work for me, price was ok and they are going on a Stone replica bike anyway :D

I have had that before with shocks from USA. Also petrol tanks.
Get the seller to re advertise them as springs.... it won’t flag up on the USPS system as restricted

If it’s “not going to be sent to you, nor returned to your seller” what the hell are they doing with it? Destroying them?

Apologies for jumping on the end of the thread but it made me curious about the codes on my shocks. The link to the date codes earlier in the thread shows the shock codes should be two numbers, 39 the example given, but mine say 3 D on mine, - on a Z1a - all other codes on the bike seem good, I believe them to be genuine - but does that mean they are April 73 and wouldn't that make them a little early for aa 74 bike, anyone else got similar codes or something bit odd going on? Don't think the Seller gets them back, or the messages say they don't?

I'm guessing that's what happens?
I assume the Seller loses out all round as well, which sucks.
