5/8 Master Cylinder - 1976 Z900

#1 PostAuthor: Mark_K » Sat Feb 29, 2020 2:17 pm

HI I am looking to buy a 5/8 Master Cylinder for a Twin Brake Setup for a Z900. Prefer an original item rather than a reproduction. Also need the right hand side cable bracket

and a twin brake pipe splitter

, I have the caliper and twin disks.

I would prefer to buy from someone that is a Club Member. I found these on eBay in the USA.

hi mark, don't mess about with an original m/c; they're 44 yrs old and will need stripping, re-anodising, new internal kit + cap seal, + labour etc, etc just get a new reproduction one for £50, save yourself a wedge n a load of grief too and you won't look back.. m

Thanks for the advice. Is there particular supplier you can point me to as I have seen a few for sale but always thought reproduction were of less quality or not correct for my bike. They seem to be generic stating they will fit all Z1s from 1973 to 1977. I want one that looks as if it was intended for a 1976 Z900.

My preference is too keep the bike original as possible as it is un-restored and low mileage. The caliper may be functionally much better as it is new but it just doesn't look right enough which is why I am hoping to find a good used one. Many thanks though. It is so cheap I may use it until I can find an original 5/8 master cylinder.

I found one from Legends that looks the same as what is fitted to my 76 KZ900. Has anyone fitted one of these and can comment?

I don't know what that is off but not a KZ900.
