Horn bracket 1000R GPz B1 B2

#1 PostAuthor: chrisNI » Thu Jul 30, 2020 1:07 pm

Anyone got a horn bracket they are prepared to part with for a 1000R, the previous owner cut a bit off mine to put on a steering damper. The GPz B1 and B2 seem to use the same bracket. Also any of these horns in salvageable shape, the one I have isn't brilliant.

I had one of the horn mounts missing on mine and got a local engineering place to make a new part. Once painted, you cant tell its not all original

Al that seems to be a J one, looks like the horns are closer together, that’s a simpler bracket, the Lawson one runs across the front of the frame there’s a horn mounted directly to it on each side. I’m starting to wonder if it’s maybe only on the 1000R has this I just looked at the GPz parts diagrams they’re totally different again, partzilla listed the part number as being common to 1000R and GPz.

Did anyone notice that Kawasaki.com doesn’t have parts diagrams for the 1100R either 84 or 85? I was going to check that to see what it was like because I’d be sure it’s the same but there aren’t any....

Rob I guess we could fix it the bit that’s cut off isn’t that complex that’s an option.

Thanks for that, the 1100R horns :P is the same part no as the 1000R as expected. The horns also have a plastic cover that goes on the back of them because they sit out in the open, that isn’t a separate part number obviously, I wonder is that only used on the Lawson too? The horn isn’t that different to most others, but I haven’t seen many of those plastic covers.

Because Kawasaki were slightly mental in the early 80s, there are several variations on the Z1000J and they've all got major differences that make little difference to the bike, you'd think a Z1000R would be just a Z1000J with a fairing and different colour paint, but no, the frame is different to a Z1000J, GPZs have loads of differences - it must have cost Kawasaki a fortune to make so many different bikes when they could have got away with

Z1000J - basic model
Z1000R - Z1000J with different seat, fairing and paint
GPZ1100 - Z1000R with 1100 barrels and red paint
Z1100R - GPZ1100 painted green
Z1000Ltd - Z1000J with gay styling :D

hI Chris

Is it same as gpz1100 b2 ?

goes right across with horn on each end - oil cooler mounts to bottom

--also i think it has a cable loop for clutch.

-Fairly sure i have one in garage at home,

If it sounds like the one -i`ll dig it out when i get home from work and take a piccy .

Found a B2 parts diagram with it on

It's 27003A not 27003 there seems to be two options even on the one model....

There may indeed be a clutch loop on there it's that side of mine that's been cut off...
