I'm wanting a number 2 carburettor body for my A4 if anyone has one. Mine has decided it didn't want the float post to be a part of it any longer

That's repairable.

Maybe it would have been but someone in the past has already botched it up. I'm hoping I can get hold of a replacement carb or carb body, sort it once and for all.

Nigel, did you have a spare carb?

I've got a full set of z900a4/5 carbs in decent shape and will be nice after a refurb. I also have 4 bodies.

What are you wanting for the full set?

It is possible to mechanically repair carb posts in certain circumstances.

I’ve just repaired a hard to find body from a TX650 where both posts had simply corroded away.

I machined off the rotten stumps, turned 2 new posts and then drilled and tapped both M4 and fitted a high tensile M4 stud held in permenantly with JB Weld which is fuel resistant.

I’ve done this on a number of occasions with a successful outcome every time.

It does however depend on the condition and the design of the body and what previous attempts have been made to effect a repair.

Maybe mine would have been repairable but someone in the past has already botched it up. If the post had simply snapped off or the mounting point hadn't already been butchered then Id have had no problem machining a new post. A replacement body is the way to go here..

I had to go that extra mile as the carb body was very year specific and difficult to find so had to repair it and it’s always nice for me to keep the original equipment on a bike!

The repair is brilliant.
I have the same problem on a set of A4 carbs, one post snapped, I'm going to give it a go!
