Re: Z400
You're probably well aware and I'm in the eggs/sucking/granny zone, but...
There were Z400 twins (late 70s I think) before the Z400 fours.
The first fours (around 1980-83?) were Z400J, which were twin shock bikes, very similar to the Z500/550s
Then they brought out (83/84) a Z400F which was a uni track model with a four pot motor, but it's not identical to the Z400J engine.
Hope you find one.

Re: Z400
Hi David,
Welcome to the Z400 project club.
I’ve just bought maybe 2 3/4 Z400’s as projects for this year. I’ve got a complete D3 which runs and is road legal. It’s tatty but I’ve been out on it and it goes reasonably well.
I’ve also got another 76 and a load of spare bits, so plenty to be going at!
Of the parts I have, there are about 3 engines which have been stripped, one of which is a non clown faced model like yours so if you need any bits, just ask.
Good luck with the project.
