Piper 4-1 to fit A4

#1 PostAuthor: zapo » Fri Mar 24, 2023 3:41 pm

Does anybody have an original Piper 4-1 that they would like to sell, with or without baffle.
An immaculate NOS one would be great but that's probably a bit of a pipe dream. Pun intended :D
Failing that, a solid presentable chrome one or a solid one in need of rechroming.

Cheers

Are you sure you meant Piper and not Alfa? The chances of finding a piper are sparkley rocking horse poo with rainbow sprinkles.
Delkevic is the closest your likely to get now.
They are well made and stainless at a reasonable price.

Yes, Piper.
Long, upswept straight silencer exiting on the right.
I know that they are rocking horse sh!t but no harm to ask.
The delkevic don't sweep up enough for me.
Cheers

The Delkevic is stainless iso it could be cut re-angled and welded and polished so you wouldn't see the join if you have a handy welder.

I had a piper on a 650 way back when and when I built my retro custom 650 only using period parts I ended up having to make a piper replica as they are not around. They were fairly scarce 40 years ago compared to Alfa, Lazer etc.
If I were to do it again I would use delkevic headers and build back from there.

Zapo, just checking the picture shows the Piper exhaust you’re looking for ? Not much like a Delkevik to my eye ! The front down pipes / headers tuck in really tight to the frame and enter the collector from a splayed out angle.. Early S+S is closer or some early Yoshi but I think if you want one like in the picture the it has to be Piper ? N.B. Very early Pipers had the 2.5 tail pipe made in 3 straight sections welded together to get the angle …in the advert it’s the later “bent type” which looks a bit smoother. Somebody somewhere will have one !

The Delkevic headers are more like a Kerker but I always thought the thin drainpipe silencer was the characteristic feature of a Piper rather than header angles.
