[image][/image]Hi
Looking to swap the original ND speedometer on my 1973 Z1 900 . The speedometer face has faded badly and looks sun blanched . The tachometer face has aged much less and though faded fits the patina of the unrestored bike. Looking for someone who either has a ND Speedometer they’d swap ( if they’re going to fully restore it anyway) or might buy. Understand I can open and do faces but trying to avoid the crimp ring removal/ refit nightmare

Just fit replacement faces to your originals.

Hi, understand that’s an option though in my experience the crimp rings always look bad assuming you can get them back on again. Don’t want to end up with the chrome clamp rings on.
Simply hoping someone with an old one would swap. Particularly if they’re going to have theirs fully restored

But any swop is likely going to be in the same condition with faded faces as yours.

Hi
Yes. Appreciate that. Hoping I can source one in similar faded state as the tacho.

Just get them done by someone on here (Al Marshall?), at least your mileage will stay the same.
Make sure whoever does it puts LED bulbs in though or you won't be able to see how fast you're going at night (if you ever ride at night).

That’s a nice original Z1 speedometer, maybe the one that came with your bike when new.
I definitely would keep that and would search a correct ignition lock instead.

The image doesn’t truly reflect how blanched the Speedo is due to reflection. The mileage isn’t the original one as the bike was on km/h. So not a big issue. How did we jump to ignition locks

appreciate it’s got key flap. Works for me.
