I agree if heated to extreme but We have an Engineering Company and constantly use heat to loosen stubborn bolt's that have fused with Alloy
a little heat can work wonder's

From what I can remember of working in a bike shop I think paul is correct, a bit of heat in the right place usually does the trick, but it is not to expand the metal,but to warm up the loctite so it releases if you use an air gun with an allenkey socket also in a vice pulling the stanchion outwards it will come out.
