Engine mount on Z1100 grrr

The bottom front engine mount bolt on the Z1100 shafter won't come out. It's one of the rubber mounted jobbies, and I fear that the bolt has become welded with rust to the sleeve inside the rubber mount.

I have tried beating the end of the bolt with a persuader (four pound lump hammer). I don't sea how heat would help as all that's going to happen is that the rubber will catch fire.

I suspect that the only way is to drill the head and end out; but if there is a less destructive method it would be good to hear it

My Lawson was the same - I kept at it with a lump hammer and it only took 90 mins

I have used an sds drill on rotary stop to drive out stuff like this.

Maybe try aheat gun/paint stripper,[ not naked flame ].Take longer to catch alight,might help?

if you have access to an air chisel spray plenty of releasing fluid on the bolt preferably over a 24 hour period then use the air chisel with the straight pointed drift to vibrate the bolt out . i have used this technique on many stubborn bolts. it is very good for removing aluminium exhaust flanges that have seized onto the studs

Go on Ralph, you don't need much of an excuse to buy new tools.

I Use one of those 14 volt hitachi rattle gun type screwdrivers on things like that and to date they are very successful, and of course i have the high tensile sockets and adaptors to go with it.

Ralph you are welcome to borrow my snap-on cordless rattle gun if you like. It WILL shift it.
