Rear footrest frame tubes

#1 PostAuthor: ChrisB » Thu Jun 22, 2017 3:37 pm

Afternoon all,
I want to grind off the rear footrest pressings on my Z1000A1 and replace them with Z900 tubular ones. I seem to remember reading about these being available to purchase as a reproduction kit. Anyone know where i can get my hands on a set?

Webike sell them in Japan. They are dead expensive though.

Just a suggestion - My Z1000A1 pillion mounts were rusted to hell and I was very grateful to a club member who had taken care to grind off his frame mounts cleanly enabling me to make good use of them. Perhaps someone else might be grateful for yours.

great idea, everyone loves to recycle. I'll take my time cutting the old ones off.

I would like the A1 footrest hangers please.

Obviously would want as much material as possible left on, ie grind the weld off to remove them rather than cut them off and then grind the weld away.

I will make a contribution towards the tubular style ones.
Cheers,

Mark.

Don't hold your breath, Mark. Messing with my frame is still in the 'notional' phase at present! I'll certainly refer back to this thread and make contact should this job push it's way further up my 'to do' list.

It's a "fullness of time" thing for me too!

I've got a GS1000 to finish, a Z1000mk2 to build, a Shovelhead to restore and a Z900 to build before I get to the bike they would be for.

And that's if nothing else crops up!
Cheers,

Mark.
