Chewing up screws

#1 PostAuthor: Graham-A2 » Mon Sep 18, 2017 11:54 am

Work slowly started on the KZ1000 import and I was busy in the shed briefly on Saturday taking the fuel taps and other things off the tank before I decide on where to send it for painting. I came unstuck with the Kawasaki badges on the side. I got three of the four tiny screws out - but the last one refused to budge. After a bit of gentle persuasion I really messed up the head and will probably be resorting to a drill in the near future.

So more patience and penetrating oil may be my new mantra. Anyone found something which is a dead cert for getting a stubborn fixing out without beasting them like I have. I'm wondering if a quality set of JIS screwdrivers will make a difference?

Graham,

You have answered your own question

Lots of people don't even know that JIS screws exist and just put the damage down to them being made out of oriental or imported Swiss cheese but it isn't so
