1975 Z900B generator

#1 PostAuthor: supablu » Fri Sep 29, 2017 11:01 pm

I have an oil weep round the generator leads rubber grommet, Plse somebody plse tell me if there is supposed to be oil in the generator housing on a 1975 Z900B. If not - how difficult is it to replace the (crankshaft?) seal?
Thanks for any pointers u can give

There is supposed to be oil in there, the problem is the grommet or exiting wiring which can be bought from Z-power.

usually the grommet but check the neutral switch too. Mine had the grommet harden and leak but also had a loose neutral switch and oil collect in the same place

Always a sod that, oil can weep down the three holes as well that the genny wires go through, you need to get the wires and all the area clean with brake fluid, kawabond is a good sealant to use,no need to drain oil lean bike over on sidestand, might be an idea to do an intro on new here let us know a bit about yourself,Cheers Paul J.
