5th gear whine

5th gear whine
My Z1B has always had a whine in 5th gear ever since I have owned it, I am thinking of removing the engine over winter and sorting it out, Is it likely to be the gears or the bearings?
Re: 5th gear whine
I guess you won't know until you strip it..

Re: 5th gear whine
more than likely a gear or matching gears if it only does it in fifth gear

Thanks for that I was thinking the same, Might be worth looking for a second hand gear box before I strip it.
What year of Zs have the same gearbox ?

All 903 and 1015 kickstart motors use the same box with the mk2's being slightly stronger.
Obviously the later the year or lower the mileage the less wear the gears should have.
