Flatsides for z1100r
I'm now thinking of a set of flatsides for my z1100r which runs the unitrak motor ..which ones are best for easy set up..
I'm thinking rs34 with velocity stacks..I'm also running a full Harris exhaust..any help appreciated regards richy..

Will I need to change the inlet rubbers..also will I need a pull push throttle kit

larger "J" type rubbers are good - think that's what's on your as std??? If not Allens Performance do 'em.

You should fit 1131 carb to head rubbers as these have a different style of internal lip but std ones (1135) will deform as required. You will need a push pull throttle and cables. Motion pro do a good one. Good news is the carbs fit with the standard airbox and connector rubbers and K&N do a really good single air filter. 34MM RS Flatslides will not interfere with youre existing fuel tap if its std 1100R.

Hi AL thanks for the advise I'm going to investing in a set am correct on choosing the rs34 as some use rs36 or rs38

I've got a set of 1135 inlets bought new old stock recently and hardly used,so in excellent/as new condition if you need some. m

RS34-D21-K for a road going bike in standard state of tune in my opinion. They work straight out of the box but be prepared to increase the size of the main jets as they usually seem to undersize them. Biggest in the kit may be 115 and you may need to go to 120 or 122.5!!
I have 36mm on a mildly tuned 1170 and given the decision again i may even go 34mm. 36mm are fine over 120MPH but a great deal of what i do and i guess most of what you do will be below that figure.
You may need to lift the needle by a half or one full notch and they (Mikuni) dont seem to be too conscious of build quality so a really good look round when you get them. Float heights may well need setting as there appears to be no accurate way for them to do this themselves.

Plus one on AL's advice, I have the same set as him, and bought a set of rs36 on advice from debben whilst the elr wants to go like a scalded cat at 6k and over. It does feel a bit boggy low down. I haven't had it on the dyno yet mind you, so a bit of fettling and a morning at the dyno centre may smooth things out. when you get a set strip them and clean them I found a small piece of swarf in mine out of the box.

Do these come with a vacuum take off for the fuel tap

Yes each body has one so ideal for balancing as well. Alternatively you can dispense with the additional faff of that extra pipe and just use PRI.
There is plenty of vacuum available when on closed or closing throttle, maybe not so much on WOT.
This is exactly the point you need the tap to be full flowing, but it depends on what you intend to use the bike for??

Hi AL great advise again ..when I've bought the carbs may need advice on fitting Dyna ignition system one thing at a time if I'm going to do it might as well do it rite regards Richy..

Just an additional bit of advice you must fit a push/pull throttle. as the carbs will hang on closing without one. I know as I tried it without and the afore mentioned happened.
