Sorry if you've read this before as I mistakenly posted it in the discussion area as well.
Just started the nuts and bolts rebuild of my Z1-B (it's been in pieces since 1977). Have decided to stay with conventional ignition for the moment but am replacing bits like points, condensers and auto-advance springs etc. Z-Power have both pattern and genuine points but the price difference is £16 against £56 for the set of 2. Anyone had experience of the pattern sets. Are they any good, and is there a £40 advantage by going for the genuine article? Any advice very much appreciated.

Re: Help! Genuine or pattern CB points?
From my point of view, very hard to say !
I've had my A4 from new & never used anything other than OEM points & condensers. In all those years I've only ever had one pair of condensers fail so I'd have to say you pays your money & takes your chance.
In fairness the parts we are talking about a quite basic so you'd like to think pattern parts are good enough if maintained correctly in line with Kawasaki recommendations.
There's an argument to say electronic ignition must be the most accurate, but in all honesty my points igniton has been fine.

Re: Help! Genuine or pattern CB points?
Many thanks for that. I think I'll go with the pattern stuff for the time being and see how it goes. If they fail and I have to go the genuine route I'm only down £16. Considering I've already spent over £3000 on the project so far (not including tools, garage equipment etc) it's a drop in the ocean. Stay safe.
