Z200 Head
Gents, on my KLT200 rebuild I’m doing I have come across the camshaft being completely fooked and the head is somewhat oval where the cam runs in it. So it’s for the skip. As I recall the later models of this engine which is basically a z200 had roller bearings in them instead of running direct in the head? Does anyone know what year head to look for and if it’s a direct swap or anything else needs changed? Assume maybe a z250 or KL head is an option too? If anyone can remember it would be super helpful. Thanks!
Re: Z200 Head
Can you not get the head and caps in line bored, and fit a set of bearings in the head to suit the cam journals?

Jimmock yeah that is an option, apparently quiet a common mod but I was thinking a later heads with rollers in it may be easier and cheaper?

Re: Z200 Head
So lots of digging through partzilla diagrams looks like they did modify the camshaft in around 83 to run on a roller bearing, the head remains the same but the cam has a roller bearing on the end. The head I have had gone totally oval where the cam runs straight in it. Quiet likely oil starvation indeed as the entire engine we chocked up with crap in the wire gauze filter and judging by the rest of the bike had probably never had much done to help it. Will pop past my local breaker for a scourge through their bits and see if I can get a later camshaft and a head in better order.
