Delkevic 4-1 query

#1 PostAuthor: TiBolts » Wed Jan 13, 2021 11:55 am

Hi guys,

As my Z1000A1 project continues to move forward (albeit at glacial pace) I was thinking about which zorst for it. I like the look of the Delkevic megaphone style - but from photos it looks like you have to remove it to do an oil filter change. Anyone know? I looked on their website but couldn't see that mentioned. Also searched on here first, natch.

Cheers!

(Hopefully I'll get around to posting some more photos of progress soon!)

I have a Delkevic on my Z1R - it's the straight silencer not the megaphone but it makes no difference. I asked Delkevic directly if it needed to come off for a filter change and they said it could be done in-situ. Sure enough, having fitted it access looks to be OK - I've not had the filter out yet but can't see there being a problem. Probably the worst would be needing to undo the springs holding the downpipes to the silencer, but nothing more than that. I've added a couple of pics below - not the best but it's an awkward angle! Hopefully you'll get the idea. Cheers, Grog.

1979 Z1R (mostly - it's been fiddled with a bit)
1977 Z650B1 - I'll get round to putting it back together one day...

Delkevic also has the advantage of being able to retain the mainstand unlike most aftermarket systems which was a big plus for me.
